Having fun

Have not been doing much but having a great time. I have been able to reconnect with some of the guys I shot pool with 2 years ago. It is fun to catch up on all that they have been doing. Most stay here on the west cost all the time. Plus it is nice to be able to shoot again on good tables.
The weather has been real nice but yesterday we did get some rain. Looks like it will be nice all week. Yesterday we went for a drive to the east. First we went to Campo. They have a Railroad Museum but it is only open on the weekends. So we will try that again next weekend. Then we drove up to a Casino to try our luck. Well mine was good but Gloria's wasn't. Guess it was finally my turn.
Today we are going to hook up with my nephew Brandon and his wife Alex. We have not met her yet so should be great and she is expecting there first child.

We have moved on

We left the Yuma area yesterday and drove to Jamul CA. We didn't do much in Yuma but we go to Quartzite to see what all the hubbub was all about. Well it was not much. The  RV show was a bummer, there just was not much there. They do have a very large flee market with about any thing you would want to buy. There are RV's boon docking all around the area. We also met up with Gloria's brother and wife and also her cousin and her hubby to go across the border into Mexico and do some shopping. But that was about all there was to do in that area.
We are at the Pio Pico TT park that we have stayed at before. We like the park and it is high on our list of parks. Not sure what all we will do here for the next 2 weeks but we will try to keep you up to date.

Made it to Yuma AZ

We left Casa Grande on Monday and drove to Yuma AZ. We are staying at Pilot Knob RV Park and it is just over the state line in Calif. But dose everything on AZ time as it is in a different time zone. We have stayed here before but not for long so this time we will be here for a week. The other day we went to Algodones Mexico. Bill and Barb (Gloria's brother ) and Pat and Rollie (Gloria's cousin Pat ) drove over to go with us. We had a good time and picked up a few things and I even got my teeth cleaned. Yesterday we went to Quartzsite to see the RV show and were not impressed. But there were lots of things to buy at the flea market. Not must to do in the area but the weather is real nice so it is ok. On Monday we will head to Jamul Calif. to stay for 2 weeks at Pio Pico RV park.

Took a drive

Well today we went to Bill and Barbs and they drove us to the Apache Trail. Sure was some nice things to see. You go by the Superstition Mountain where the Lost Dutchman Gold mine is or they say it is. We first stopped at the Superstition Mountain Museum. It is a good place to get all the information on the area and the history.

Superstition Mountain
The nest stop was Goldfield Ghost Town. It was a mining town in 1980's that didn't make it big. but it is a fun place to wander around and shop.

Next stop was Tortilla Flats. This was the only stop over on the Apache Trail for workers on the Roosevelt Dam. It was built in 1906 and is still going strong today. The walls are covered in Dollar bills.

Wow

I have been lax on my posting but we have been busy. We are staying at Fiesta Grande RV Park and it is real nice. It is in Casa Grande AZ. We have met up with Gloria's brother Bill and his wife Barb several times. We had a great dinner at Cracker Barrel and some good conversation. Went over to see them at Val Vista where they are staying for the winter. Also went over to another RV Park to meet up with friends Charlie and Harvey and his wife. We met them several years ago in Calif.  It has been fun catching up on all the new things that are going on. We also went over to Gloria's house here and checked on thing and sprayed the weeds. Today we will go over to Bills and they are taking us to the Apache Trail for some pictures. We leave here on Monday for Yuma AZ. Will post some pictures when I take some.

Almost time to move again

CLICK HERE TO SEE PICTURES OF THE AREA

Well it is almost time to move on. We leave tomorrow morning and head to Casa Grande AZ. We will be staying at the Fiesta Grande RV Park.
The other day we went to see the Rex Allen Museum. It is a great museum on his life and has lots of his things and his history. It is a must see if you are into old country singers.

Today we were talking to the park owner and she told us about a place to see close by. So we headed out and found the Thing Roadside Trading Post. We it is cool. It is a gift shop and a small museum. There are not a ton of things to see but what there is is nice. It only cost a Buck to see it and is well worth it.. You will have to decide what the thing is as I don't want to spoil it if you stop by.

As you can see I have added a link to see the rest of the pictures we took in this area. Have fun looking and we will post more of our travels as we go on.

We arived in Willcox AZ

We got to Willcox AZ on Tuesday with out a hitch. Only bad thing is it rained the last few miles and got our house all dirty. Guess when I have time I will clean it again.
Yesterday as the weather was still wet and cool we went into Willcox to see what all was around. We first went to the Visitors Center and small Museum. It was a nice place but not a lot of information. But there is a better museum in town. So we went there and it was a wealth of information on the Chiricahua Apaches. With lots on Cochise and Geronimo. We also had lunch at Pizza Hut.

Today we went to the Chiricahua National Monument. That was a nice place to see all the rock formations and the history of the first settler in the area. We also went by the site of Fort Bowie. There isn't much left of it and it is a mile and a half walk. As the wind was blowing real hard up there and it was cold I decided not to walk to it.

Tomorrow we will be going to see Rex Allen Museum and Marty Robbins Museum. When I upload those pictures I will add a link so you can see all the pictures from here.

It was a great day and lots of fun too. Today we are just resting and getting some things ready to move on. We will be leaving here on Tuesday and will make a stop in Fort Stockton TX for the night. Then it is off to Wilcox AZ for a week. Hope as we go west it will warm up a bit as that would be nice.  As you can see I have added a link to the top of the page that will take you to my pictures of this area. Hope you like them. We will also be saying good bye to our friends Andy and Chris as we might not see them again till next year. It is always hard to say good bye.

Its a New Year

Well the weather has not been all that good for us. It has been cloudy and wet and cool here most of the time. Guess this year will be a cold one for us but maybe when we get farther west it will warm up.

We drove up to Bandera TX the other day and went to the Frontier Times Museum. It is a real good museum and tell all about the history of Bandera and why it is the Cowboy capital of the world. We have been there before and enjoy it lots.

We did spend New Years Eve here in the park at the club house. They had a band and it was real good. I am not use to being up all that late but made it and got to see 2015 come in. We spent the evening with friends Andy and Chris and had a good time.

Today we will be driving north to Kerrville to meet up with Bob and Marlin. They are old friends of Gloria's and we will be having lunch with them.
