We are slowly on the move to Denver. Stopped at Pioneer RV Park in Hermiston, OR for a couple of nights. While there we drove over to Pendleton. Visited the Pendleton Woolen Mills, being a Sunday no workers so no tour, but did check out the clothing and blankets. Beautiful blankets and some very nice clothing. Noticed on the tags that the material for the clothing was made there but then shipped out of country to be made into clothing, most labels said Mexico, then returned to the US to be sold. Even back in the room full of markdowns prices were on the high side.
Left Hermiston this morning and are now in Huntington, OR for one night, staying at Catfish Junction on the shores of the Snake River in Eastern Oregon, very pretty view but a lot of bugs to deal with.
Tomorrow we will be in Mountain Home, Idaho for 4 nights and will be meeting up with Len's cousin and his wife for lunch on Thursday, sure looking forward to seeing them once again.

On the move

This morning we left Paradise TT Park and drove the long distance to Chehalis TT Park. Only 22 miles again as we were here a few days back. The reason for this is Paradise closed today for the season and we still had 4 days till we start our trip back to Denver. We were to go to a State Park on the 22nd in the Columbia River Gorge but it was cancelled because the area is on fire and HWY 84 is also close. So we had to reroute to Hwy 12 to get to Hwy 82. It will all work out and we will still be in Denver on Oct. 1. We will be stopping in Mountain Home ID. to see my cousin Jack again.

Update, Paradise
Yesterday we took a drive to Mt. Saint Helen's. At Johnston Ridge Observatory we enjoyed a talk given by one of the ranger. Mount St. Helens is most notorious for its major 1980 eruption, the deadliest and most economically destructive volcanic event in the history of the United States.[2] Fifty-seven people were killed; 250 homes, 47 bridges, 15 miles (24 km) of railways, and 185 miles (298 km) of highway were destroyed. A massive debris avalanche triggered by an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale caused an eruption[3] that reduced the elevation of the mountain's summit from 9,677 ft (2,950 m) to 8,363 ft (2,549 m), leaving a 1 mile (1.6 km) wide horseshoe-shaped crater.[4] The debris avalanche was up to 0.7 cubic miles (2.9 km3) in volume. The Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument was created to preserve the volcano and allow for its aftermath to be scientifically studied. While checking out the observatory we also viewed a short movie about Mount St. Helen's, and a lot of history on what happened. They have a seismograph machine set up for a demo and there is a mat to jump on and register the impact. There was also an out of order sign on it, can't tell you how many were jumping on the mat and trying to make it register. So easy to be entertained while Len was walking to the top of a viewing area.
Then it was a stop to check out big foot. Big foot is made of some ash from the eruption of Mt. St. Helen's. There is also an A frame that survived the mud flow from the eruption.
Decided to check out the visitor center while we were out doing the tourist thing. Another short film about Mt. Saint Helen and a nice display of the information on the eruption.
Today Len rode the motorcycle to check out a couple of nearby fish hatcheries, one was a salmon hatchery.

Paradise, Silver Creek, WA

Arrived yesterday, found a full hook-up site and great site for satellite. Smokey and a little humid, Len seems to notice it more with his asthma. This park is closing on the 18th of September for the season, so after Labor Day they started shutting things down. Have several "neighbors" in our area and looks like most leave about the same time we do, on the 18th.
Tonight we went to a local restaurant for some Chinese Food, it was good and so much of it that we both brought home a doggie bag. Checked out their lunch menu while we were there and it seems like a better value so I am sure we will try lunch before we leave here.
Not sure what we will do while in the area since we are only 20 miles from our last stop and they seem to promote the same things to see.

Chahalis, WA - time to leave
Tomorrow is another moving day. Our trip is only a very short distance, about 20 miles, to our next stop, I will drive the truck instead of hooking it up to the motorhome. We will be staying at Paradise RV park (Thousand Trails) which is in Silver Creek, WA.
Have really enjoyed our time here and will be returning in less than 2 weeks for another 3 days before we start our journey back to Denver.
Our friend Lily told us one of her friends was here at the park, and we got to chat with him. Nice that Keith stopped by so we could meet him and hope to see him down the road.
While our plans are to travel I-84 and make a stop to see Multnomah Falls in Oregon we will have to wait and see if the fires are going to allow that. We have reservations to stay at Ainsworth State Park but they are closed now because of the fires. Will be keeping an eye on it to see if we need to cancel those reservations and make other plans.

Chehalis, WA 9/2017
I always thought this was easy when Len wrote on the blog, I don't mind it but darn...it's remembering what we have done that is the hard part.
Thursday we invited Lee and Elaine over for some biscuits and sausage gravy, with scrambled eggs for breakfast. Great way to start the morning. Happy hour in the afternoon and Elaine made some delicious stuffed peppers, was so happy she shared the recipe.
Friday morning was moving day for our friends (Lee & Elaine) sad to see them go. We will catch up with them again, and we are always in touch with each other, Facebook makes this easy.
We were able to visit the local county Museum. Nice town museum, Lewis County. Use to be when doing a museum I would see things that I remember from my great grandmother or my grandma. Now with adding more age to myself, I am seeing things from my mom and ME. It is a joy as Len and I check out the museum and tell each other of our childhood while remembering things that are now "antiques". They really had a nice working display for model trains. It was set up were you could run the trains with a push of a button, yes, we pushed them all.
Saturday was breakfast at the clubhouse, BACON. (Funny story, after we said good bye to Lee and Elaine on Friday we headed for the clubhouse for breakfast. Usually smell the bacon when you get close, neither one of us was smelling it. The minute I step in the store to buy breakfast tickets, I realized it was FRIDAY, breakfast is served on Saturday and Sunday. What was worse ,half the staff was there. Everyone got a good laugh and we told them we would be back on Saturday).
Saturday night we took a ride on the local steam train. The train operates over a nine mile section of track that extends southwest of Chehalis. The line winds through some rolling hills, farmland and over several wooden trestles. We enjoyed talking with several of the employees/volunteers while on the ride and they were able to answer some questions we had and give us information on the area and train. Were told the gentleman that owns this line also owns the Silverton in Colorado.
Sunday we were off early to catch the Rust or Shine Car Show that was being held at the Veterans Memorial Museum. Was impressing the amount of cars they had. After the car show we checked out the museum and they were having an a an open house. The museum is mostly information on local service personnel, a large display of uniforms from all wars and a pretty good selection of firearms.
Sunday Len found a problem with the fridge (his beer wasn't cold). Have dreaded this might happen as the fridge was the original. So this morning (Monday) we took off early to Wal-Mart and purchased a mini-fridge. We will make do with this till we get back to Denver in October and at that time Len will decide if it gets repaired or replaced.
Last night our "new" friends (Bruce & Sue) we met here through Lee and Elaine, stopped by during their walk, they are such a fun couple, so glad we have become friends with them and hope to meet up somewhere down the road.
So the journey continues along with the fun, until next time........
