Yesterday we took another trip to Astoria to see what we have missed. We first stopped at Fort Clatsop. That was the site where Lewis and Clark spent the winter in 1805. It was cool to stand in a spot that was the first american settlement in the west. Next we went to the Astoria Column. It on a hill above the town and over looks the Columbia River. It was built in 1929 as a tribute to the Explorers that settled Astoria. There is 165 stairs to the top which I climbed. No I didnt go strait up as I had to stop once to rest. It is a long way up there. But once on top it gives a great view of the area around it. I have added some pictures to the ones I put up in the last post so be sure to check them out.
