Having fun
Took a trip with friends Andy and Chris to the north of here. First we went to Stonewall TX and toured L.B.J.'s birth place and home. It was a nice tour and a nice ranch. His house was called the Texas White House by the secret service guys so it stuck. We got to learn about his life there and how much he loved the area. We could not take any pictures of the inside of the house but I got lots of the rest of the place. He gave some of the ranch to the National Park Service. after he died but his wife could stay on till she died.
Click here to learn more about his home.
Next we went to Fredericksburg TX and had lunch but didn't have much time to see the town. It is a tourist town and there were lots of people walking around. Then it was off to Luckenbach TX too see what all is there. Well there is no much. There is a little store that use to be a Post Office, a dance hall and a bar. Ok that was all I needed so I had a beer. But all in all the only reason to go there is to say you have..

Just Vegging
We have not done much this week but stay around and enjoy the park. The weather has not been all that good. Cool and wet. We did go to Boerne TX and did some shopping and got a pizza from Papa Murphy's our favorite. Saturday we did breakfast at the club house here and later they had Ice Cream for all. Of course we have been feeding the Deer that are here in the park. There are lots of them and they seem to like the Corn. They will even let you pet them a little.
Hope the weather gets better so we can go see some things. Our friends Andy and Chris just got here so we will be doing some things with them. Will do Christmas dinner here on the 25th and that should be real good as it has been in the past.
HOHOHO Hope all have a Very Merry Christmas Bristol is all ready

We made it
We made it to Medina Lake in Pipe Creek TX. with out a hitch. We got all set up and ready for the next 3 weeks. We like this park and think it is the best ones in Texas. As has been the case with the last two parks there is not a lot of campers. But guess it is the time of year. Our friends Andy and Chris will be showing up on the 22nd. So we will all be enjoying the Christmas Dinner here again this year. It didn't take long for the Deer to show up and ask for food. I was setting up and Gloria was feeding.

Went for a Drive
Today we sent for a drive. First we went to Sulphur Springs TX. They like most towns have a Veterans Park of some kind and theirs is on of the best. The Hopkins County Veterans Memorial Park is great. There are lots of names to be remembered and things like that. There are also to restrooms that are real different. They are mirrored Glass so you can see out but not in. Now we just had to use these. It is so cool. The county Court house is also great.
Next we drove to Paris TX and yes they do have there own Eiffel Tower and Veterans Park.

Took a trip to Dallas TX
CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE PICTURES OF DALLAS
We drove to Dallas today and went through the Sixth Floor Museum. This is the Texas Book Depository where JFK was shot from. It is a nice museum and has lots of pictures and stuff to see and read. It was kind of strange to stand in the area where it happened.

Then we drove to the Pioneer Plaza that is a cemetery and also has some real nice Bronze Statues of a Cattle Drive.

We have moved
CLICK HERE TO SEE PICTURES OF THE MUSEUM
We left Bridgeport the other day and drove to Point TX. and are set up at Lake Tawakoni RV Park. It is another member park and is on the east side of Dallas TX. It is a large park and we have a real nice site close to our friends Bryan and Phyllis who also came here at the same time. Weather has been ok but a bit cloudy with little rain or wind.
Yesterday we took a drive to a Museum called Audie Murphy / American Cotton Museum. It explains the cotton industry that helped make this area and the life of Audie Murphy. It is a great little museum and only cost us $4.00 each to go through it and is well worth it. Lots of history of the area and a ton of thing to see about Murphy.

We will be going to some other things in the are and one of them will be the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas. It is where Kennedy was shout from.

Ok I have been lazzy
CLICK HERE TO SEE PICTURES AROUND FORT WORTH TX
We have just been too busy messing around with friends ( Bryan and Phyllis, Andy and Chris ) and doing things to post. So I will try to catch up now.
We took a trip to Fort Worth and went to the Stock Yards. Got to see the Walking of the Steers. They take around 20 Long Horn Cattle and walk them right down the main street like they did in the old days. It was cool to see them pass by and I got some nice pictures. We also went through some of the shops and just hung out and had lunch.
Click here to see all about the Stock Yard
Our next trip was to Traders Village. Largest flee market in Fort Worth and takes you all day to get around it and then you cant see it all. But it was lots of fun to look at all the different things they had.
We also had Thanksgiving Dinner here in the park. The park had the Turkey and Ham and the people brought a dish. There was lots of food as there were some 100 people there. Sure was a fun time for all. It was done several day before thanksgiving so the park people could spend the day with there families.
L to R, Bryan & Phyllis, Andy & Chris, Gloria & Me |
So on Thanksgiving we went to Fort Worth and had dinner at Golden Coral. They put on one hell of a dinner and we all walked out of there stuffed like a Turkey.
Most of the rest of the time we have been hanging out here in the park and doing things here. We did some fishing and caught some but they were so small you could not call them anything but guppies. We also played Mini Golf and Shuffle Board. We did go out to eat lots of times and think we all put on a few pounds.
We are now getting ready to leave and head to our next stop on the east side of Dallas. We will be staying at a park called Lake Tawakoni RV Park in Point TX. It is another member park and is a large park. Hope the weather warms up some as we have only had a few day of warm weather so far and lots of wind.

Still cold here
Well it is still cold here but should warm up later this week. That will make Gloria happy but it wont be warm enough for her. hahahha
We have done some running around and have seen two museums. The first one was in Bridgeport and was at the visitors center. It was a nice one that tells you about the things that have made this atrea prosper. Like the Butterfield Stage line that really started the town and the oil and gas production. This was a real nice place to visit and best of all it was free.
The next one we went an toured was the Wise County Heritage Museum in Decatur TX. This one is in an old Baptist Collage. It was built in 1892 and ended up being a Baptist Junior College till 1965. They ended up giving it to the historical society and they made it the museum. There is a ton of stuff here and great to look at. They even have a section dedicated to the Lost Battalion. The battalion was captured during WWII when the ship they were traveling on was sank. The men were made to work on the rail road that went to the Bridge over the River Kwai. Also there are lots of things that have been donated to them by settlers from the area. There is also a Cabin on the grounds that was the first building in the county. It was build in in 1854 by Sam Woody. This is a great place to visit and it only costs $2.00 a real bargain.
