Yesterday we took the bike and checked out two State Parks. First we went to Paynes Creek Historic State Park. This is where the Seminole Indians destroyed a trading post and then a fort was built called Fort Chokonikla. The fort was never attacked. There was not much else here but some trails and things so we moved on to Highlands Hammock State Park. This was a nicer park with more things to see. This park is dedicated to the CCC troops that helped build the state park system during WW II. There were some boardwalk trails that go over swamps. These were real nice and you get to see what it is like in the swamps without getting your feet wet. Got to see one alligator but not much more wildlife. It sure was beautiful out there. All in all it was a great day. I think Florida has some of the best parks any where.
The swamp looks just like what's behind us at Three Flags in Wildwood.
