We left Verde Valley park in Cottonwood AZ. this morning and drove north on Hwy 17 to Flagstaff AZ and then headed East on Hwy 40 to Gallup NM. Where we are staying at Red Rock State Park for the night. It is a real nice park but lots of sand that has blown in during the winter. Hope they can clean all that sand up some time before more people come here to camp later this year. We will leave here tomorrow and head to Santa Fa NM. and meet up with my brother Al  for a day and then head up 25 to Trinidad CO. to spend 2 days at our friend Bill's place and then it is off to Lakewood and home. There we will be making plans for our Summer trip to the North West.

Well now aint this something. It has been raining and snowing the last two days here in Arizona. The snow is not sticking to the ground but it is cold and windy. Should be out of here by the time we leave on Wed. to head home. Should be back at the old homestead around the 25 or 26. Will stop on the way to see my Bro Al in Santa Fa if he is still there. He is in the process of moving about 75 miles south of Albuquerque to set up a crusher for his company.  Looking forward to seeing all our friends again.

3-15-2012

Not doing much lately as Gloria has been down with a bad cold. I have taken several walks around the park and trails for something to do. Also played some games at the Clubhouse. She was feeling better yesterday so we went to La Fonda for dinner and had Mexican food. It was good but not great but they do smother there food. The big difference is that the Red is Hot and the Green is mild. Hmm maybe they need to go to Denver and learn something. Today we took a ride to Jerome (an old copper mining town) and looked around some but Gloria started feeling bad again so we cut it short. Might be a nice place to visit again later. Weather has been OK but windy and guess it will turn bad this weekend just before we leave here. Hope it isn't too bad,

3-8-2012

We have been having a great time here in Verde Valley. On Monday we took the bike and rode to Red Rock Canyon. Now that is a cool place. We took one of the trails and walked about a mile and a half. It was easy walking with mostly level ground. We got some good pix of the area and a place called Bell Mountain and Courthouse Mountain. Will post pix soon. Then on to Sedona and back to the trailer. Sure was a nice day with temps in the 70's.
We haven't done much the last two days as the weather has been real windy and cool. Just stayed around the trailer and vegged. Today we drove to Phoenix to get a new (used) Weather Guard tool box for the truck. They sell for around $986 and I got it for $80. Now I could not pass on that. Now I have a place for my tool when we go full time. Hope all is well back home and we will see you all soon.

3-4-2012

We are liking Verde Valley just fine. We will be here till March 21  then start our trip home. It has been a bit cool here the last few days with high wind. It did warm up late yesterday and it is real nice today in the 70's.

Took a walk down to the Verde River and walked around some. Would be nice to fish it I think but water a bit cool at this time.  Yesterday we went to Fort Verde in Camp Verde AZ. It is only about 10 miles from the park and a nice place to sight see. Lots of history and information to get. Some nice stores to check out in the town. Will upload some Pix soon on the internet.

Heading for Cottonwood Arizona

2-29-2012
Well we left Palm Springs on the 28th and drove to Surprise AZ. where we spent the night at Paradise RV Park. We met up with two friend that we had met in Oregon, John and Sissy Vanderheiden we met them at there home for dinner and chatting. It was great seeing them again and hope we can meet up some day in the future on the road.
Then we left this morning and drove to Cottonwood AZ. and got all set up in Verde Valley TT RV Park. The park is run real nice and set up great. If you want trees you can get that, if you want sun you can get that too. Think we will like it here as there are lots of things to go see around the area.

Palm Springs Calif

2-26-2012
Well we have just been sitting around enjoying the warm weather. Did I say warm I mean HOT. It was 93 the other day and in the high 80's the rest. Have had to run the air in the trailer to keep it cool for the cat OK ME. Last night we went to a casino down the road as we won 2 dinner Buffets and last night was Sea Food.
Did I make a pig of myself. One of the thing on the menu was Lobster and I had 6 of them and were they good. I also had Crab and Filet Migon and some other things too. It was so good and I was so full. Sure like it when Gloria is lucky.

2-23-2012

Today we went to the Palm Springs Aerial Tram. Wow what a ride. You start at about 2000 ft. and climb to 8560 ft. That was cool. You can see forever up there and farther. I did the nature trail but Gloria stayed behind as the trail was real steep and when you got to the bottom it was snow covered and hard to walk. The temp at the bottom was 88 degrees and at the top 58. Big difference but I didnt mind as it was nice on my hike. This trip is well worth the money and we will do it again. Would be nice in the summer. Took a bunch a pictures and will post on my Flicker site soon.

Well seeing the guys who were in the Tuskegee Airmen was a thrill. Got to talk to them and even got a autograph from one. One of the guys flew 142 combat missions and got out alive. We even got to see a P51 fly, that was way cool. Yesterday we took the bike and went on ride with some friends to the Salton Sea. I was wanting to do that since I saw a documentary on it. That is cool place and we had never seen an inland sea. It is about 40 miles long and 10 miles wide. In places it smells bad due to the pulsation and the high salt content. Also went to Salvation Mountain to see the crazy guy but he was not there. This guy has built a mountain out of hay bales and  other junk and then put mud on it and paints it. He sure is a busy guy. The weather has been great, high 70's to low 80's. Today we will do the Palm Springs Arial Tram. Early this week we said goodbye to our friends Lee and Elaine from Placerville CA. I am sure we will meet up again some time in the future.
Update on Salvation Mountain.... The reason the Crazy Guy was not there is that he is in a nursing home and will probably not be back. Now the mountains future is in question. It seems that some people at Slab City are talking about trying to take care of it and others too. But who knows if that will happen. So if you would like to see this cool place you should do it now. I am glad I got to see this guys life long work.

Ok I forgot to update this page. Been having a good time looking around and doing things here in the park. Gloria has been doing water aerobics and having fun as one of the ladies she knows likes to do it too. Weather here has been good except for 2 days as it rained and was cool out. When we got up that day we could see snow up on the hills. Kind of like being home but warmer. Bristol has found a friend to play with some times. It is a Roadrunner. The bird runs and Bristol chases it then the bird stops and Bristol catches up. They do this for some time then the bird leaves. Today we are going to take the bike and ride to the Palm Springs Air Museum and see the Tuskegee Airmen exhibit and one of the guys who flew with them. Sun was out all day yesterday and was 72 same today.

2-14-2012
We left Menifee this morning and drove 80 miles to Palm Springs where we are staying at Palm Springs Thousand trails RV Park for the next 2 weeks. We got here just find and our friends Lee and Elaine found us a nice spot to set up in. Did some walking around and ran into other people we had met along the way here. It is a small world when you belong to a camping club. Seeing as it is Valentines Day I cooked Steak and Lobster for Gloria. Aint I sweet!!!!

2-13-2012
Today we mostly got thing loaded so we could leave early tomorrow morning for Palm Springs. Also went to lunch with our friends here at the park. The last few days have been real nice with temps in the high 70's except for today as it is raining some.On Friday we took the bike to Diamond Valley Lake. Sure is a nice lake and we were right above the dam and could look way out on the lake. It is a real big lake and would love to be out on it fishing. On Saturday Gloria sold some of her crafts at the Yard sale the parks puts on every Saturday. We also played candy Bingo and for once I won some candy. On Sunday we had a BBQ at out place and had our friends Rob&Ann and Willie&Linda over to eat. We sure have met some great people on our trips. We also rode the Wilderness Lakes train. It is one they built here at the park and it runs all around the park. Now that was fun.

2-9-2012
Yesterday we took the bike to the casino south of here called Pachanga. They have the tightest slots I have ever seen. We put some money in and decided we didn't want to put any more in. But with our new club card we got a big discount on the buffet. So we had lunch there and it was GREAT. One of the best we have ever been to. Will go there any time we are in the area. When we got back to the park we ran into Willie and Linda who we had met in Texas. We chatted with them for some time went home to relaxed in the sun. It was 82 out today and real nice.

2-8-2012
We haven't been doing too much lately. We went to Old Town Temecula the other day on the bike as people said it was a nice place to visit. Well they had a different opinion than we did. Mostly place to eat and some antique shops. Guess it was OK but not for us but a good ride any way. Also went to the local Cheese place and that was not what we expected but OK too. Clouded up yesterday and looked like rain but didn't. So we stayed home and vegged. Went to lunch today at a place called Yellow Basket at the other end of town. Now that was a good lunch I would recommend it for sure. So mostly we have been staying around the park and meeting people and chatting.

2-5-2012
Yesterday we did a bunch of things here in the park. Did a candy bingo and of course Gloria won candy and I didn't. Hmmm my luck out here is shit. Then we went to Casino night and yes she won again. They had a 50-50 drawing and she won 40 bucks. Did some walking and talking to some people around here. Ran into several people from Colo. mostly from south areas. Sure do run into allot of people that are not from around here. Guess everyone wants to get away from the snow. Had lunch here at the park at the cafe and it was good. Today didn't do much as the Football game was going to be on. So just went to the store and Gloria got a new computer as her old one was going south. Then came back and watched the game. It was good game just didn't have any of our teams in it. More to come later.

2-3-2012
Well we are having a real good time here at Wilderness Park. Weather is great ( unlike Denver with all that snow). Yesterday was busy as Gloria did laundry and then we spent most of the day catching up with people we had met on our trip. Even ran into a guy we had met last summer. Mostly people from this trip like Rob and Ann from Texas and 3 people from Pio Pico. I had a guy do a Recall on my frig. Uploaded some pictures of our last stop at Pio Pico. So go look at them and enjoy. I am changing how I post by putting the newest one at the top. Let me know if you like it this way....

2-1-2012

We left Jamal CA. Pio Pico park and drove to Menifee CA. Wilderness Lakes Park about 93 miles. Got here in good shape and got all set up for the next 2 weeks. Seems like a real nice place with lots of sites and nicely kept up. Has 2 pools and a store and lots of things to do. They have a cool canal running through it that you could fish for Cat Fish if you want to buy a permit for 10.00 a day..... We will be going to Sun City tomorrow to pick up some mail at the post office. Then maybe to the store for some things.

1-16-2012
We arrived at Pio Pico RV Resort in Jamul Calif today. It was a nice drive from Yuma AZ. But the weather today was cool and cloudy with some light rain. Should be better tomorrow. This is a nice park but we are in the not so nice part. We have water and electric but no sewer. We will move later when they have room in the full hookup part maybe. Did not do much today but look around the park and get setup. Not sure if we will head to San Diego tomorrow or not. We are about 25 miles east of there.  Looks like real nice area to ride the bike.
1-18-2012
Today we went to a Casino it was a trip put on by the park. We had a good time and of course I did not win but did not loos much. Yes Gloria Won again as always. Also went to a Pot Luck Dinner at the activity center. We did some walking around the park yesterday and just relaxed. Also talked to my nephew who in in the Marines in San Diego and will try to hook up with him on Sunday.

1-20-2012
Yesterday we took the bike and rode to the coast at Chula Vista. It as a real nice ride but could have been a bit warmer (for Gloria). Got to see the Bay and road out of HWY 75 that has the bay on one side and the ocean on the other. Things sure have changed out here in Calif. You now have to pay to park and go to the beach. Hmmm what is this world coming to. But it was a great ride any way. Will post some pictures soon.
Today we move to a better site on the south side of the park. It has full hookup and more sun and much nice. So we will stay here till the 31st. Well all for now hope all our friends are having as great time as we are. Keep Gloria,s nephew Billy in your prayers and thoughts as he is going through a rough time right now.
1-22-2012
Well yesterday it rained most of the day so we did not do much. Played some card and Bingo in the activity center. Today we went to San Diego to meet up with my Nephew Brandon for lunch. It was real nice seeing him again as it has been along time. He has been in the Marines for almost 2 years now and is doing good. Got to see his new car before his dad did and that was cool. Sure is a nice car for a sports car. We had a nice lunch at Applebees and then headed back to camp so Gloria could get the laundry done. Now that was fun. hehehe Guess it will rain again tomorrow then maybe it will be nice the rest of the week.
1-26-2012
We have been out having a good time since I last wrote. Monday it rained all day so we just sat around and did nothing. Then on Tuesday we did a road trip to go shopping and pick up some things. Wednesday we went to to Casino again and this time I at least broke even and Gloria only lost a few buck. It was fun and we met some nice people from the park on the way. The weather has been great since Tuesday even a bit warm. Today we took the bike to the San Diego Zoo and that was great. Sure is a lot to see there. Sure was a lot of walking. Spent about 6 hours and still did not see everything. All for now hope everyone is having a good time.
